HD -PE - HDPE 

High Density Polyethylene is made from petroleum, a fossil fuel. 

HDPE or PE-HD is High Density Polyethylene used in heavier types of plastic.

With increased demands for diverting HDPE plastics from landfill coupled with its high commodity value the recycling of HD-PE  plastics is becoming increasingly popular in the UK marketplace that this high commodity priced material is reused and where possible being exported as a clean none contaminated material.

DJE Recycling Systems offer a full range of machinery and HDPE plastic washing and recycling systems enabling this valuable product to be processed and reused by companies who manufacture food product packaging, cosmetics and detergent bottles, industrial wrapping and film sheets and plastic bags.
 
We design and build HDPE Systems to suit a wide range of contamination levels, from lightly contaminated HDPE plastic to heavy HDPE contamination. 

The HDPE Plastic Washing Systems we supply: are capable of handling between 500 - 2500 kgs Hour.

We offer a complete range of washing recycling machinery to remove almost all kinds of contamination from HDPE type plastics. Using a combination of the following machines and procedures.

The first stage is the loosening of contaminated HDPE which includes shredding / granulating. 

Depending on the requirements we would recommend one of the following combinations. 
Reduction of the HDPE to a pre-determined particle size using either:
  • Granulator
  • Single Shaft Shredder
  • Twin Shaft Shredder
  • Four Shaft Shredder
Much of the contamination in particular comes from labels. These would be separated from the HDPE at the washing separation stage using one of the following options.
  • Trommel
  • High Speed Friction Washer
  • Sink / Float Washing Tank
  • Boiler Tank
Depending on the level of contamination we design systems which will clean the specified material consistently and efficiently. For cleaner grades, one or two washing stages are sufficient to clean the material, for heavily contaminated plastics further washes stages may be required. In the case of food and oil contaminated plastics then chemical washing may be necessary to clean the material ready for drying. We use a series of sink float tanks for separating the HD PE from the various sink materials.

Drying
The final, and possibly the most important stage of the system is the drying stage. High moisture levels reduce pelletizing efficiency and can be detrimental to the quality of the final pellet. Different pelletizing machinery will tolerate different levels of moisture. We can design systems with a range of moisture outputs, in most cases below 1%. We would recommend a combination of the following:
  • Horizontal Centrifugal Dryer
  • Screw compactor
  • Pipe Drying System
  • Air classifier (also serves to separate light materials such as film and fibre)
Different types of HDPE plastics, in particular materials with different thicknesses, will require different types of machinery to reduce moisture to an acceptable level. While most requirements are at around 3~4%, we can bring that level down to under 1% if necessary by utilizing a more comprehensive set of drying machines. In the cases where the material is highly contaminated with film and other light fractions it will need to go through an air classification process to separate the light fraction from the heavy.

DL Pelletizing System:

Suitable for mixed HDPE plastics such as a mixed rigid grade where film and other low density materials need to be separated prior to moving on to the pelletizing stage.

Following this stage the material is now shredded cleaned and dried; ready for PELLETIZING if required.

Plastics Colour Sorting:

Increase the value of your recycled HDPE plastic material. We can supply plastic colour sorters using cutting edge technology, designed specifically for the plastics sector. CCD colour sorters use ultra-violet light, combined with excellent digital camera technology to identify materials as small as 0.04mm.
