Foot Operated Bin Lid Opening
Specifically adapted its Continental 1100 and 500-litre containers for situations in which bulky items can limit the use of both hands for opening the lid, often the case in retail and manufacturing environments.

Continental™ Hands-Free trade waste bins are specifically adapted sizes from 500 Litre to 1100XL  litre containers for situations in which bulky items can limit the use of both hands for opening the lid, ideal for bin stores and bin sheds. Often the case in retail and manufacturing environments.

Foot Operated Bin Lid Opening

All-size bins are available with a foot-operated Standard Lid Specifically adapted for situations in which bulky items can limit the use of both hands for opening the lid, The foot-operated system is perfect for black bagged waste general waste. This simple operation, yet effective foot-operated pedal bin system at the base of the container takes the slightest effort to raise the lid, therefore freeing up your arms and reducing the risk of injury if carrying awkward loads and boxes. Ideal for bin stores and bin sheds

Dimensions 1100 Foot Operated Lid

The 500L foot-operated system is perfect for the collection and storage of communal and commercial food waste. This simple operate, yet effective foot-operated pedal bin system at the base of the container takes the slightest effort to raise the lid, therefore freeing up your arms and reducing the risk of injury if carrying awkward loads.

Food Waste Bin The 500-litre food waste bin boasts many unique features making it perfectly suited to food waste containment.

Optional hands-free opening enables the effortless transfer of waste into the bin from a smaller internal container and the Taylor Protect acid-resistant internal coating provides resistance against the harsh effects of containing acidic food waste.

Key Features
  • Large 500L Capacity
  • Foot-operated lid
  • Fully internally welded seams and optional internal coating
Internally welded seams stop water penetration, preventing the corrosion that plagues less well-made metal waste containers.

With full EN840 certification, they will give you exceptional lifetime value with limited downtime, unlike plastic and other alternative steel commercial trade waste bins.

Internally welded seams prevent internal corrosion, whilst the hard-wearing galvanized steel body and base make for a durable, long-lasting container that delivers exceptional lifetime value when compared to plastic or alternative steel containers.

The key benefits to owning continental recycling bins are they are completely durable, low maintenance, fire containment, long life, vandal proof and low cost of ownership compared to similar bins.

All the Continental range are EN840 Compliant with EN 840 which is the recognised European standard for mobile waste containers of various capacities and specifications.
By ensuring your bin(s) are compliant with these standards, you can help ensure the safety of employees and the general public. All continental bins comply with parts 2, 5 and 6 of the EN840 standard.

This ensures that all 4 wheeled containers will operate correctly whilst being emptied on a refuse truck if the container is picked up by a comb bar (frontal receiver) or by the DIN points
(trunion).

The handles are placed in the optimal areas for ergonomics and manoeuvrability of the containers, whilst still retaining a safe distance from any moving parts on the refuse truck.

The castors fitted to the bins are tested for both strength and rolling resistance to ensure you get a long life from the bin, yet the bin is still compliant with all health and safety recommendations for manoeuvring wheeled objects.

All Continental bins are independently tested every six months to ensure they meet the highest safety standards within the industry. Please see the video for more information regarding EN 840 Standard regulations.

Key product features:
  • Comb lifting bar (Frontal receiver) to meet EN840-2 regulation
  • Simple, robust steel hinge bar secured by a split pin
  • The double-skinned rotationally moulded lid is both durable and UV resistant. Available in a choice of colours
  • The lid recovers even from extensive deformation unlike injection moulded plastic lids
  • The design avoids water draining into the bin, unlike some alternatives
  • Handles designed to EN 840 for ergonomic handling and health & safety by keeping hands away from lifting gear.
The continental bins comply with EN840 standard whereas flat-based bins fall short of this compliancy.

Steel-centred wheels manufactured with needle bearings, grease and rubber optimised for performance.

Two foot operated, trailing braking wheels at the front with two swivel wheels at the back.

Draw depth and shape of pressings optimised to avoid buckling or distortion of the bin on impact or lifting when fully laden. Other poorly designed bins fail to get this right and after usage the frame can badly distort beyond the lid, thus allowing water in.

Dimensions and Build Compliances

Standard Build Compliances
  • Double tank method as dictated by European Standard BS EN 840
  • Quality Control Certification to BS EN ISO 9001:2000
  • Bin comply in full with European Standard BS EN 840
  • Certification to Environmental Standard BS EN ISO 14001
  • Recycling bins comply in full with ‘The Noise and Emission in the Environment by Equipment for Use Outdoors Regulation 2001’. BSENISO3744:1985
  • Hot-dip galvanised to meet BS EN 1461: 2009
  • Bin body steel, all joints fully welded with all internal body seams continuously welded. All steel parts are galvanised after manufacture to meet BS 729.
  • Galvanised steel body with internal fully welded seams
  • Castors Compliant with EN840

Internally welded galvanised steel bin seams stop water penetration, preventing the corrosion that plagues less well-made metal waste metal containers. With full EN840 certification, they will give you exceptional lifetime value with limited downtime, unlike plastic and other alternative metal bins.

Continental 500 Ltr and 1100 Ltr Foot Operated Lids - Have internally welded seams to ensure water-tightness and prevent the ingress of waste into the joins, thus preventing premature corrosion

Continental 500 and 1100 Ltr Foot Operated Lid – are fully hot-dip galvanised steel to meet  BS EN ISO 1461:1999 after assembly to ensure hard-wearing.

Please note the foot-operated lid is a lighter built lid compared to a standard lid because of the foot-operated
mechanism.

Advantages Powder Coating: Continental Bin,

Provides a layer of protection against corrosion, scratches/chipping and fading,

One of the most economical, longest-lasting, and most colour-durable quality finish, hot-dipped galvanised steel finish, unlike a wet paint finish.

Powder Coating is a dry finishing process created by an electric charge that causes a dry powder to fuse to the surface of the metal. This is then baked in a curing oven to achieve a smooth coating. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
