Continental Towing containers are fully adapted and built with heavy-duty reinforced base Power castors and a removable tow link system allowing up to 4 wheeled containers to be moved at a time subject to bin size and materials, ground conditions and material weights.
A unique removable link system for the Continental containers provides a safe, practical answer to all towing requirements. Any container which is to be towed should be fitted with heavy-duty Power Towing castors or two swivel castors complete with directional locks, at one end of the container and that no more than four containers are towed at any one time.
Please note we would not recommend using standard castors for towing up to 4 bins

We also offer none marking castors for use in Hospitals.

Continental Towing Range.
The key benefits to owning continental recycling bins are they are completely durable, low maintenance, and fire containment, and long life, vandal proof, and low cost of ownership compared to similar bins.
All the Continental range are EN840 Compliant with EN 840 which is the recognised European standard for mobile waste containers of various capacities and specifications. By ensuring your bin(s) are compliant with these standards, you are able to help ensure the safety of employees and the general public. All continental bins comply with parts 2, 5 and 6 of the EN840 standard. This ensures that all 4 wheeled containers will operate correctly whilst being emptied on a refuse truck if the container is picked up by a comb bar (frontal receiver) or by the DIN points (trunion).
The handles are placed in the optimal areas for ergonomics and maneuverability of the containers, whilst still retaining a safe distance from any moving parts on the refuse truck.
The towing castors fitted to the bins are tested for both strength and rolling resistance to ensure you get a long life from the bin, yet the bin is still compliant with all health and safety recommendations for maneuvering wheeled objects.
All Continental bins are independently tested every six months to ensure they meet the highest safety standards within the industry. Please see the video for more information regarding EN 840 Standard regulations.
Key product features:
- Galvanised Steel Body, hot-dipped galvanised steel along with fully internally welded seams, ensures robust protection in the harshest of environments and protects the container from internal corrosion due to residual waste being caught in exposed corners.
Steel Panels Front, Rear and Side Panels are constructed from 1.5mm Mild Steel Swages are between 2 to 7mm and panels have a bowed out geometry to spring out under heavy loads
- The container can be powder-coated option using polyester powder, which is baked and cured in a controlled oven process providing a layer of protection against corrosion, scratches/chipping and fading, being one of the most long-lasting superior paint finishes, and colour-durable quality available in 12 standard colours
- The Comb Bar is manufactured from a single piece of steel with welded end pieces and gussets.
- The top frame is a complete welded tube, not split or open bend, with a diameter of 20mm. The use of the complete welded tube is very important here, as by using a complete tube there are no holes or gaps in which waste can leak into the top frame itself when the container is lifted on emptying
- Container Bin Lids are Rotary-moulded double skin plastic with a minimum weight of 5.0 kilo manufactured in an aluminium mould for superior finish 12 Standard Colour Options.
- Container Bin Lid Options
- Standard Trade Lid
- 2 Aperture Bottle Brush Lid
- Recycling Flap Lid
- Bolt on Castor Options for easy replacement
- 200mm High Speed Towing Castors
- None Marking 200mm Castors
The continental trade bin is a true litre capacity complying with EN840 standard whereas flat based bins fall short of this compliancy.
Steel centred wheels manufactured with needle bearings, grease and rubber optimised for performance
Two foot operated, trailing braking wheels at the front with two swivel wheels at the back.
Draw depth and shape of pressings optimised to avoid buckling or distortion of bin on impact or lifting when fully laden. Other poorly designed bins fail to get this right and after usage the frame can badly distort beyond the lid, thus allowing water in.
Bin Compliances:
- Double tank method as dictated by European Standard BS EN 840
- Quality Control Certification to BS EN ISO 9001:2000
- Bin comply in full with European Standard BS EN 840
- Certification to Environmental Standard BS EN ISO 14001
- Recycling bins comply in full with ‘The Noise and Emission in the Environment by Equipment for use Outdoors Regulation 2001’. BSENISO3744:1985
- Hot-dip galvanised to meet BS EN 1461: 2009
- Bin body steel, all joints fully welded with all internal body seams continuously welded. All steel parts galvanised after manufacture to meet BS 729.
- Galvanised steel body with internal fully welded seams
- Castors Compliant with EN840
Advantages Powder Coating: Taylor Continental Bin,
Powder Coating is a drying process created by an electric charge that causes a dry powder to fuse to the surface of the galvanised steel bin.
Providing a layer of protection against corrosion, scratches/chipping, and fading,
Being one of the most long-lasting superior paint finishes, and colour-durable quality finishes. Which is then baked on through the High-Temperature Conveyor Drying System. Unlike a wet paint finish.
The double-skinned rotationally moulded lid is both durable and UV resistant. Available in a choice of colours
The lid recovers even from extensive deformation unlike injection moulded plastic lids. The design avoids water draining into the bin, unlike some alternatives
